THE EVENTS
WHENThe festivities will include the LINN CREEK FIRECRACKER 10K & 5K RUN/WALK (6.2 and 3.1 miles, respectively) for adults and children, and, for those children not quite ready for these distances, a short race we call the BEAT THE CHIEF CHALLENGE.
WHEREThe events will be held rain or shine, hot or cold, on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
START TIMES: The Beat the Chief Challenge will start at 8:00 a.m. The Firecracker 10K & 5K Run/Walk will start shortly after the conclusion of the Beat the Chief Challenge, which we expect to be around 8:15 a.m.
The start/finish line will be at the Linn Creek City Park in Linn Creek. The course winds its way through the city on one of the flattest, easiest courses in the Lake area. (The 10K will be two laps of the 5K course.) For driving directions to the park and a course map, click here.
REGISTRATION
AWARDSRace-day registration for both events opens at 7:00 a.m. To save time, you can download a registration form to complete and bring with you on race day.
ENTRY FEE:
Adults (13 and over) $15.00
Children (12 and under) $5.00Even though it's twice the distance, the 10K will cost the same as the 5K. (We know everyone loves a bargain--just think of it as getting each mile at half price.)
Proceeds from the event will be evenly split between the Camden County Museum and the Camden County Child Advocacy Council. If you are paying your entry fee by check, we ask that you bring two checks and split the total amount between them.
In trying to find a way to also support the tornado relief efforts in Joplin, we have decided to forego the printing and distribution of t-shirts for this year's event, and will donate the savings to those efforts. We hope you'll understand.
All children will receive a finisher's medal.
For the Firecracker 10K and 5K, first-place awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers. For the 5K only, awards will be presented to the first finisher pushing a child jogging stroller and one for the first finisher accompanied by a pet. (If you will be bringing a pet, please make sure the pet is leashed and always under your control.)
Results will be posted online at www.gojim.tv
